Why Summarisation Matters
Summarisation is the process of transferring only relevant and clinically significant information from a patient’s historical paper records into the clinical system. This ensures any clinician — including locums or new staff — can access vital patient history quickly and safely.
Without proper summarisation, practices risk missing key diagnoses, treatment history, immunisations, or QOF opportunities.
Even in a fully digital world, summarisation is still essential — especially when patients transfer in without GP2GP data or when coded information is missing from historic correspondence.
How Our Service Works
We offer both backlog clearance and ongoing monthly summarisation, all managed by our in-house team:
- Secure, direct collection of paper Lloyd George files using DBS-checked staff and tracked vehicles or secure digital collection if records are already digitised
- Files prepared, scanned to BS10008:2020, and quality checked before summarisation
- Summarised to an agreed clinical protocol and coded to SNOMED CT
- Uploaded directly to the practice’s clinical system (user login required)
- Summary and exception reports delivered weekly
- Physical files returned, securely stored, or confidentially shredded as instructed
We run a sample phase with 5 records to ensure you’re happy with the output before full production begins.

- Subscription model – Spread the cost over 12 months with a fixed monthly Direct Debit
- Roll-over option – Unused monthly capacity can be rolled over for 1 month
